Ease into holiday baking with perfect pumpkin bars

Don't let those leftover Halloween pumpkins go to waste. Transition into the holiday season by baking these moist pumpkin bars.

Guaranteed to fill the kitchen with a tantalizing pumpkin spice aroma, these easy to make treats are a great way to start off holiday baking with a bang.

These easy to make treats will surely please and impress even the most discerning dessert tasters.

pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting:


Ingredients:






Bars:
2 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1 cup oil
4 eggs
1 2/3 cups granulated sugar
1 15-ounce canned pumpkin
Frosting:
4 ounces cream cheese
1 stick butter
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups powdered sugar


Directions:
Combine flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger and ground cloves in a medium bowl and set aside. In a large bowl, combine oil, eggs, sugar and pumpkin and blend well. Gradually stir in the flour mixture. Stir well and pour into a lightly sprayed 13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes and let cool.

Mix all frosting ingredients with electric beater until smooth and creamy. Spread the cooled pumpkin bars with the cream cheese frosting and enjoy!
