Rowing takes on UT-Austin

The SMU rowing team has had almost a month to prepare since their loss on Oct. 3 in Oklahoma City. They now will return to the water this Saturday at the Head of the Colorado in Austin, Texas. The Mustangs will row against The Universtiy of Texas at Austin. This is the second time the teams have matched up this season, and head coach Doug Wright plans on using this event to chart the progress of the team thus far. "We can evaluate how much training we've accomplished during that four week period," he said.

The team anticipates sending two eight-person boats with a mixture of smaller boats as well. Wright also anticipates that most girls will participate in two or possibly three events during the meet, depending on the time of each race. "That's what it's about; race experience," Wright said. Each race will consist of 5,000 meters out and 5,000 meters back. Wright estimates that some girls will row up to 30 K in one day this weekend. After the Mustangs return from
