The Tao te Ching (also transliterated Dao de Jing) is the most famous text from the philosophical/religious tradition known as Taoism (or Daoism). With classic phrases such as "the name that cannot be named is the only name," the Tao te Ching is insightful, confusing and intriguing all at the same time. Attributed to Laozi (or Lao tzu), the Tao te Ching is a must-read for anyone who's interested in religion or philosophy. This book should be of particular interest to anyone who is unfamiliar with East Asian religions and/or Eastern Philosophy. In short, if you're only familiar with Western religious and philosophical traditions, you're missing out on an entire hemisphere of thought.
