The 94th Student Senate Officers were inaugurated in the Hughes-Trigg Commons on Tuesday afternoon.

University President R. Gerald Turner was there with opening remarks. He spoke of how hard the 93rd Student Senate worked efforts. He feels they accomplished many goals throughout the year and with much to come in the future, he does not know what to expect.

"It's been an interesting year for all of us," said Turner. "Next year will be another telling year, whether we get the presidential library or not."

The 93rd Student Body President, Taylor Russ, also had a few words to say before inaugurating the 94th Student Body President, Katherine Tullos. He explained how hard the Student Senate worked over this past year by taking a step back to re-evaluate all the student policies and procedures in the rather large handbook he displayed in front of him. Russ also spoke of how college has been the best years of his life and it would not have been the experience it was if he had not served on Student Senate.

"It has been a great ride and I have been honored to serve as your student president," Russ said.

Once Tullos was inaugurated, she proceeded to inaugurate Bethany Peters, student body vice president; Lamar Dowling, student body secretary; the 28 student senators that stood before her; and the 10 Student Senate chairs.

Tullos says next year she wants students to effectively voice their opinions.

"I believe in the power of change," Tullos said. "Student Senate is at a critical change."

She wants the Student Senate to better many areas such as campus safety and communication.

"Next year will be a great year for Student Senate," Tullos said.
