Student Cory Payne rides the bull at Mane Event 2007. It was moved inside the Dedman Center due to stormy weather.

A day full of cloudy skies and promises of rain caused Mane Event to move inside the Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports on Tuesday afternoon. However, the weather did not prevent many from enjoying pizza outside under the building's rotunda.

Inside, sumo wrestling paraphernalia, large inflatable accessories and a stage with a DJ greeted students as they stepped onto what just hours before was simply a basketball court.

"I have to check this out; this looks pretty intense in there." said sophomore Edwin Ochoa upon walking into the Dedman Center lobby.

Senate allocated about $27,000 for Mane Event this year. Student Foundation puts on Mane Event every spring as an end of the year festival to celebrate the end of classes.

Student Foundation Campus Events Chair Shelby Reeves did have some concerns about her first Mane Event after storm clouds moved in over campus.

"After what happened with Relay for Life, we were thrown into a little panic when we saw the forecast for Tuesday," said Reeves. "I think Mane Event is definitely meant to be outside, we get more exposure that way, but I was very happy with the way things ended up.

She said that thanks to many people helping out, the event was still "fantastic."
