Students have two opportunities to take a break from studying for finals and celebrate the last real day of classes tonight. The annual events Mane Event and the Code Red Concert coincide this year, offering students a number of ways to find relief from end of the year pressures.

Mane Event will begin this afternoon at 4 p.m. on the main quad. There will be entertainment, games, food and more.

Junior Meg Nobel says she is excited about the event and is looking forward to the food-eating contests. She hopes there is "plenty of junk food."

"It's a great way to celebrate the end of the year," she said.

Mane Event is sponsored by the Student Foundation, which is comprised of eight committees that plan programs such as Family Weekend, Homecoming and the Tate Lecture Series.

Mane Event is free and open to the public as well as students.

After indulging in the food and games at Mane Event students can continue their evening of pre-finals slacking at the Code Red concert at 8 p.m. in McFarlin Auditorium.

Motion City Soundtrack is headlining the Code Red concert, with special guest Phantom Planet. Motion City Soundtrack is a pop-punk band from Minneapolis, Minn. In 2004, the band toured with pop-punk stars Blink 182. Phantom Planet is an alternative rock band from southern California. They achieved notoriety with their song "California," which was the theme song of the Fox TV series, "The O.C."

Code Red performers in previous years include musicians such as Jason Mraz and comedians such as Seth Myers.

Tickets for the Code Red concert can be purchased at the Mane Desk for $5.
