Search begins for new women's soccer coach

After being the head coach for the women's soccer team at SMU, John Cossaboon will begin his new job as assistant coach at Gonzaga University on January 2.

Cossaboon leaves the Mustangs with a 64-17-8 record, four conference titles and four appearances in the NCAA Tournament.

Cossaboon was also a two-time Conference USA Coach of the year in 2005 and 2006.

In this past season the Mustangs won the Conference USA regular season title, and made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year with a record of 17-5-1, and a conference record of 8-1. SMU's finished tied for the 24th rank in the SoccerTimes.com poll.

SMU has not announced any candidates for the open position.
