university gardens trial begins today

Opening statements are expected today in the lawsuit brought by condo owners in University Gardens. The trial is in Dallas County's 134th Civil District Court, and will determine whether SMU violated its "legal obligations" to the owners in the way the university obtained control of the complex. The lawsuit is another part of a long battle between the condo owners and SMU. Gary Vodicka and Laura Tazel are two of the litigants and the site's potential use for the Bush Library is the central part of their suit.
