The state of Maine recently rejected a law that allowed same-sex marriage, joining California and Hawaii as states that have reversed their pro-gay policies. Firstly, I cannot believe it would still be an issue even after same-sex marriage has been allowed in a state. (5) comments

In Charanya Krishnaswami's defense of the Democratic health reform plan on Tuesday, she reiterates some common fallacious arguments that are misinformed, misrepresent the opposition, and frame the debate in a rather elementary fashion. Krishnaswami seems to believe that the "public option" will bring honest competition to the health insurance market. (7) comments

In 2008, when deciding what college to attend, I'll admit, I was completely overwhelmed. No one in my family had ever gone to college, so I had absolutely no idea what was important and no one to steer me in the right direction. Two months ago, when Jaycee Dugard was discovered to be alive 19 years after her abduction in South Lake Tahoe, the nation was shocked. But when it was revealed that the 29 year old was now a mother of two and that her and her children were living in makeshift tents in the backyard of sex offender parolee Phillip Garrido and his wife, that shock turned to outrage.
