The man on the sidelines won't be the only thing different about SMU football this season. The SMU athletic department just announced uniform changes that will take place this season. At a press conference Wednesday SMU Athletic Director Steve Orsini announced the hiring of Tim McClements as the new men's soccer head coach. McClements coached at SMU from 2000-01 and returned to the Mustangs in 2006 after serving as the head coach at Vanderbilt. (0) comments
Dedman College recently honored Robert Ware Haley with its 2008 Distinguished Graduate award. Haley is currently researching Gulf War syndrome in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Haley has helped define the symptoms of Gulf War syndrome and improved hospital care for Gulf War veterans with the syndrome. (1) comment
FC Dallas, of the MLS, announced the hiring of Schellas Hyndman as the team's new head coach on June 4. FC Dallas fired former head coach Steve Morrow on May 21. In his 24 seasons Hyndman took the Mustangs to the NCAA Tournament 23 times. He leaves the college game with 466 career wins, the 12th highest in NCAA history. (0) comments
SMU played host to a "green experiment" during June, allowing Texas Gulf Coast Company to install and demonstrate a zero-emission electricity generator on campus. The generator is dubbed "the green machine" because it uses no fuel to generate electricity. (0) comments
President R. Gerald Turner announced in a letter to the SMU community the plans of S. Leon Bennett, General Counsel, vice president for legal affairs and government relations, and secretary to the Board of Trustees, to retire at the end of the calendar year. (0) comments

The U.S. Navy recently renamed its award for top engineers to honor SMU engineering professor Delores Etter. The Navy employs over 35,000 scientists and engineers in research, development, acquisition and sustainment. The Delores M.
