Church finds new home after 2003 fire

Canterbury Episcopal has always gone out of its way to welcome new members. Even when the ministry's chapel burned down in 2003, Canterbury Episcopal was more than happy to give students a ride to St. Christopher's Episcopal Church on Lovers Lane, where worship was held every Sunday. (0) comments

Long time department store Neiman Marcus commissioned junior music composition major Timothy Roy to write three original pieces of music to celebrate the store's 100th anniversary. "I got an e-mail a week or two before classes started," Roy said. "It was sent to all composition majors and said that Neiman Marcus needed music for the 100th anniversary exhibit. (0) comments

RLSH moves to frat row

Residence Life and Student Housing (RLSH) relocated to 3058 SMU Boulevard, the former Beta house, on Thursday. The move from their original location in Boaz Hall, is in preparation for the renovation of Boaz that will occur during the spring semester. The new location, further from the heart of campus, has led many students to be concerned that RLSH may not be able to meet their needs as well as they have in the past. (1) comment

Thursday night, amid the historic volumes of the DeGolyer library, Charles C. Alexander spoke about his book chronicling the life of baseball legend Tris Speaker, titled "Spoke: A Biography of Tris Speaker." The evening started at 6 p.m. with a half-hour reception where guests could meet the author. (0) comments

When Matthew Schortman's parents were looking for a gift for their SMU junior in 2006, they passed on the digital cameras, PlayStations and HD television. Even a new car for their son wasn't what they were looking for. All of those things would depreciate once they were picked up off the shelves or driven off the lot. (0) comments
