Mold infestation forces out two Moore Hall residents

When sophomore Katie Byers and her roommate moved into their efficiency-style apartment in room 213 of Moore Hall, they quickly discovered their quaint, little apartment had more to offer than a private bath and kitchen - it had mold. In the three drawers where their silverware, spatulas and measuring cups might have gone, a thin layer of green mold already inhabited the space. (2) comments

Today marks the kick off for the week-long Dollars for Darfur campaign, a campus-wide effort to raise $40,000 for the refugees of the Darfur conflict that has displaced more than 2.5 million people and killed more than 400,000. Sponsored by 11 different organizations, Dollars for Darfur will feature numerous fundraisers held throughout the second week in October. (1) comment

A special lecture was held in Kirby Hall yesterday on the impact of globalization and its aftereffects. "Religion and Empire," a group lecture held by nine teachers and professors of theology from various schools in the southwest, was a series of anecdotes and research undertaken on the effects created by the "empirical" nations and their laws, and how religion and faith intersect with them. Teach for America founder visits

Thursday night, the founder and CEO of Teach For America, Wendy Kopp, visited Southern Methodist University and delivered the 10th annual Louise B. Raggio Endowed Lecture in Women's Studies. Collins Auditorium was half full when the lecture began at 8 p.m. (0) comments

Giddy-up returns to campus under new management

An old SMU service has been brought back to keep students safe at night. Giddy-up, an escort service, is in operation on Thursdays through Sundays from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. The Giddy-Up service offers students a free ride in a Giddy-Up golf cart from one area on campus to another. (1) comment
