I'm graduating in two weeks, and somehow I can't seem to muster up anything to say besides this: Thank God it's all over. Don't get me wrong. My four years at SMU were the best in my life - I found tons of organizations to get involved in, I dove headfirst into some pretty fascinating classes (and some not-so-fascinating jobs) and I even found the time to study abroad twice. It's disheartening (though revealing) when people demonize their opponents in order to argue against them. Anika Smith and Sarah Levy wrote a serious article defending intelligent design (ID). Unfortunately, SMU biology professor John Wise has chosen this demonization approach, opening his rebuttal (published on 4/25/07) to Ms. (1) comment

Earlier this week, at their ceremonial first meeting, Mayor Miller addressed the newly elected Student Senate about their capacity to reinstate the Senate Environment Committee (EC) next year as an operational Standing Committee. Many of the new senators may have never heard about this issue beforehand, but they will soon realize how much of a difference they have the opportunity to make in the senate. (0) comments

Few people would dispute that our present scientific understanding of the physical world has led to a tremendously long list of advances in medicine, technology, engineering, the structure of the universe and the atom, and on and on. It's so weird that I'm graduating from college in two weeks. I know you hear every senior say it, but you can't recognize the feeling until you've experienced it.
