Student found dead in Perkins Hall

First-year student Jordan Crist was found dead Wednesday morning in a dorm room in Perkins Hall. SMU officials say Crist was pronounced dead at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas midday Wednesday. (0) comments

When the red pimple on SMU dance major Megan Crichton's forehead continued to grow, she got the feeling it was more serious than acne. "It started getting really big and pussy, so I went to the doctor and he said I had staph," said Crichton. One of three dance students in two months to get the infection last year, Crichton suspects dancing and sweating on unclean studio floors were to blame. (0) comments

Finals week begins with study breaks

Students have two opportunities to take a break from studying for finals and celebrate the last real day of classes tonight. The annual events Mane Event and the Code Red Concert coincide this year, offering students a number of ways to find relief from end of the year pressures. (0) comments

Bruce Levy is embarrassed to admit that he did not volunteer before becoming a professor. He focused on his personal needs instead of the needs of others. However, after becoming a professor at SMU, he started volunteering as a tutor with the Inter-Community Experience Center (ICE) House. (0) comments

This semester, Dedman College students may have noticed a vast increase in the use of BlackBoard Academic Suite for everything from homework to exams, and lately even teacher and course evaluations. According to Information Technology Services, despite being a client of BlackBoard for years now, at the end of last semester, SMU decided to maximize BlackBoard's usability, while at the same time trying to slash the cost of copying and printing thousands of sheets of paper. Invisible money empowers the young adults in today's society. Young adults tend to look at money as a black and white amount on a monthly statement that they receive from creditors. The concept of debt is lost on the 20-somethings because the reality of repayment is not assessed until it is too late. (1) comment
