Before any discussion about Intelligent Design starts, it's imperative that everyone understands a few basic facts. First, the theory of evolution isn't "just a theory." Relativity is a theory. In some cases, gravity is a theory - we haven't been able to test it on all of the planets and galaxies in our universe, so we can't say for sure that it applies in all possible cases. (3) comments

It is a remarkable thing when your opponents make your points for you, and for that we are grateful for Professor John Wise's response late last week. Incredibly, Wise paints the faculty at SMU who called for the cancellation of the conference as martyrs for free speech. (81) comments

In her April 4 column ("Notes on the etiquette of scholarly dialogue and debate"), Professor Susanne Johnson of SMU's Perkins School of Theology once again denounced the proposed Bush Institute. Today's students live in a world full of complex and dangerous problems that transcend geographical location or national origin. Whether it's the AIDS pandemic ravaging Africa, the crisis in Darfur, global warming or the myriad human tragedies playing out every day in Dallas, students are given numerous opportunities to lift their voices in protest for the downtrodden and marginalized of our world.
