Chris Simcox wants to make one thing clear. He's not a racist. "It's good for immigrants to secure the border," said the president and founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, a group that pushes for tougher border controls. "How dare you call me a xenophobe … when we're trying to protect legal immigrants?" Psychiatrists Erszula Kelley and Richard Best spent time with faculty and students Thursday in the Women's Center at noon to lead a discussion on body image and eating disorders. Kelley, the medical director of the Eating Disorders Program at the Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, said individuals are not born with body images but develop such mind frames as they grow. Kerry Max Cook was a juvenile delinquent. He ran away from home at 19, became a bartender and stole a sheriff's car. Although he later turned himself in, it would not take long for him to break parole. Cook was a juvenile delinquent, but that did not make him a murderer. (1) comment
"The Vagina Monologues" features personal stories about women's sexuality as well as their fears and search for self-discovery and condemns domestic violence. The Women's Center is bringing the play to campus to increase awareness about violence against women. (1) comment
