Diamond sparkles at student forum

Scientist, societal historian and author Jared Diamond was on campus Wednesday for the Tate Lecture Series. During the Student Forum, Diamond put significant emphasis on the impact of voting. When asked what people can do in a lifetime to keep their societies from collapsing? Diamond said you can vote for change. (0) comments

The Faculty Senate approved two more resolutions Wednesday, both asking the university to disassociate itself with the proposed Bush Institute. One resolution "affirmed the independence of the institute from SMU," said Senator Dennis Foster, who introduced it before the Senate. (0) comments

Meadows School of the Arts is embracing music from a variety of cultures Thursday with two separate concerts of international music. The first performance, which features Alash, an international and award-winning ensemble of Tuvan throat singers, is today at 12 p. (0) comments

Student initiated efforts, such as a partnership with the Environmental Protection Agency to use more renewable energy, have already begun to make SMU a more environmentally friendly campus. Next week, Students for a Better Society and the Environmental Society will switch the focus to mobilizing the university as a whole to help the environment, by empowering students with knowledge about how they can individually keep the world green and clean.
