Spring Break is over, and so is Austin's South by Southwest. While SXSW has gained notoriety as a music festival, its film festival is just as big a draw. So Ed Board has some good news for you in case you didn't get your movie fix over the break. I write this as I sit on the airplane about to embark on Spring Break. Anticipation of a fun and relaxing week permeates the air around me. A March 6 column ("The Bush presidency's disconnect with the UMC") by the Rev. Fred Kandeler targeted my organization, the Institute on Religion and Democracy (IRD). Ostensibly, IRD has attacked "the witness and integrity of UMC social justice teachings, initiatives and leaders" for 25 years. (5) comments
This is in response to the commentary from Wednesday, March 7 entitled, "We fought Memphis and the law won." Let's start with where I agree with Zachary Upcheshaw. It was possibly one of the best basketball performances since we played Texas Tech. It also came down to the wire, and all the historical data in his column were correct. (0) comments
