When a colleague and I co-authorized an op ed piece for the SMU Daily Campus Nov. 10, little did we realize the firestorm it would ignite. Because we both love SMU, and because we then deemed the proposed Bush Presidential Library, Museum and Policy Institute to be inconsistent with SMU's mission and its grounding in the United Methodist heritage, we expressed our conscience as a matter of record-definitely not because we had any self-inflated notions we could stop the whole thing. It can be tough to imagine a world before Facebook, text messaging and mp3 files. Think of how much longer it would take you to write that 10 page paper if you couldn't type it up on your word processor and print it out on your ink jet printer. Yes, technology has some really fantastic uses, especially when it comes to education. (0) comments
Shame on Janis Bergman, David A. Freidel, Valeria A. Karras, Andrew Weaver, George Crawford, William McElvaney, and all others who have completely ignored the students of SMU and deemed them, by virtue of exclusion, to be irrelevant. My disgusted astonishment is so complete that I hardly know where to begin. (5) comments
