Within the last few months the men's basketball team has traveled and returned to Africa, appointed an assistant coach, hired a director of basketball operations and is still in a dispute with NLI signee Jarred DuBois.
SMU teamed up with Adidas and the SEEDS Academy in Senegal to travel to Africa.

After just one season playing basketball for Rice, guard Brittney Hudson has decided to transfer to UNT.
"I left Rice because I felt like I didn't fit with their playing style. I wanted to come to UNT because I heard they had hired coach Stephens," Hudson said.

Wrapping up the season at just 9-7-1 overall was not the Mustangs' game plan in the 2007-08 season. Setting expectations at nothing short of a Conference USA title, the women's soccer team came up short after sinking to a five-game drought in the middle of conference play to put them in the middle of C-USA rankings.

There are few coaches in SMU school history that have accomplished more in their respective sport than former SMU head coach Schellas Hyndman.
After 24 seasons as the Mustangs' coach, 31 total at the collegiate level, Hyndman departed the college ranks to coach Major League Soccer's FC Dallas.
