In his November 12th letter to the editor, David Coon makes several arguments in support of his anti-gay marriage stance, all of which are based on faulty assumptions.

Firstly, Coon states that "the state is really nothing more than the hand of society," and so should not support values that go against that society, in this case referring specifically to same-sex marriage.

Despite a report that shows that shutting down computers after hours could save the university thousands of dollars, the university is considering, but not pursuing, a mandatory shutdown policy, a university official said.

Bryan Lucas, executive director of Technology Resources, wrote in an e-mail that there are about 3,500 student and classroom computers on campus.

The SMU Mustangs will look for their seventh win and a confirmed bowl appearance as they take on the Marshall Thundering Herd this weekend in West Virginia.

After defeating The University of Texas El Paso last weekend and putting them at 6-4 overall and 5-1 in Conference USA, SMU became bowl eligible for the third time since receiving the death penalty in 1987.

Bah humbug to the university officials who thought it was a jolly idea to move the traditional campus Christmas tree from the steps of Sadler Hall to the Campus Commons, a supposed higher traffic location.

While the new location will no doubt be aesthetically pleasing, it is safe to say that the tree will make a great centerpiece for the residential students who are on that side of campus on a daily basis.
